Reason for the retirement of Wolfgang Winter, Senior Consultant at Timbatec

Architecture professor Wolfgang Winter retired at the end of September after more than 22 years at the Technical University in Vienna. On 24 October he will report in Vienna on the research and development work of the Department of Structural Design and Timber Engineering of the TU Vienna.

Wolfgang Winter, architect and civil engineer, has been Professor of Structural Design and Timber Engineering at the Vienna University of Technology since 1994. At the Institute of Architectural Sciences at Vienna University of Technology, Department of Structural Design, and Timber Engineering (ITI), Winter was responsible for the cross-material structural theory in the study plan of architecture and for timber engineering in the study plan of civil engineering for 22 years. Winter retired on 30 September. In the future, he will work as an expert and consultant for pilot projects and will also continue to work as a senior consultant at Timbatec.


"Timber is growing up"

To mark Winter's retirement, an event with several lectures on resource efficiency and sustainable construction will take place on Tuesday, 24 October. Wolfgang Winter will report on the Institute's work under the title "Resource-efficient Materialization - from the research and development work at the ITI." The Viennese architect MartinAichholzer from MAGK Architekten will give a lecture on the topic "Timber is growing up." 


The main lecture was given by Thomas Herzog. The architect and professor emeritus from Munich, who received the honorary title of Emeritus of Excellence from the Technical University of Munich ten years ago, speaks on the topic "Technology and Design - Work on Pilot Projects". 


The event starts at 5.30 pm and takes place in the domed hall of the TU Vienna. Admission is free. Interested parties, friends and partners of the ITI are cordially invited.
