A functional building made of timber as a model for beauty

The trade magazine First dedicates ten pages to Werkhof in Loveresse in its current issue. "Constructive Beauty" is the title of the detailed article about the timber yard where Timbatec was responsible for timber construction and fire protection planning.

The topic of the latest issue of the Swiss trade magazine First is "Models - timber construction in public spaces". The issue is dedicated to the role models of the editorial staff in matters of public timber buildings. The magazine presents the "functionally beautiful Werkhof in Loveresse" most prominently, as it says in the editorial of the issue. On ten pages the timber construction is described in detail and illustrated on many, partly double-sided photos. The Werkhof in the Bernese Jura was inaugurated in the spring of 2017.

In the first contribution both the project manager of the construction project and the team of architects as well as Lukas Rüegsegger of Timbatec have their say. The timber construction engineer has ensured that the standard Minergie-P-Eco is met in the heated part of the factory yard.

Almost only timber from Switzerland is used

The article also focuses on one important advantage of timber as a building material: sustainability. The canton of Berne, itself one of the largest forest owners, deliberately promotes the use of native timber in cantonal construction projects, the article states. Except for the board material, the entire timber used - 1235 cubic meters - has grown in local forests.

In the last sentence of the article, the magazine impressively sums up just how sustainable the Werkhof is because of the building material used: "In just five hours, all the construction timber from Loveresse in the Swiss forest will grow again".
