Buchholz Playground

2017, Zürich

The Buchholz playground in Zurich Witikon was completely rebuilt this year. For the planning, Timbatec engineers measured the existing site and its foundations with a 3D measuring device.

Timber Platform near Basel Elephant Park

2017, Basel

From here you have an overview of the new savannah landscape of the elephants at Basel Zoo. The timber platform is slightly elevated and allows a view of almost the entire elephant enclosure. Since mid-March 2017, the animals have had much more room to move.

House of Switzerland

2014, Sotchi, Milano, Zürich, Davos, Rio, ...

For "Presence Switzerland", the concept for a reusable platform with appropriate space (730 m²) was developed, which serves public diplomacy and promotes Switzerland's interests at major international events. Timbatec designed a robust, dismantleable timber construction system.

Sound Barrier Walls BLS

2007, Reichenbach i.K.

In line with the principle of the 1985 Environmental Protection Act to limit noise primarily through measures at its source, the 2000 Federal Act on the Noise Abatement of Railways stipulates, among other things, "measures along the propagation route".

  • Limeco Hybrid Power Station, Dietlikon

Limeco's new power-to-gas plant is making a positive contribution to climate change. It will produce renewable gas from waste and wastewater and feed it into the grid from winter 2021/22. From the parking ceiling upwards, the plant building is a pure timber construction.

  • Wildlife Overpass Rynetel, Suhr

It took a long time to convince people: more than 20 years ago, Stefan Zöllig demonstrated that wood is the right choice of construction material for wildlife bridges. Today, the wooden bridge over the N01 highway between Suhr and Hunzenschwil is impressive.

  • The Lighthouse, Bad Ragaz

As part of the "BadRagartz" art exhibition, a nine metre high lighthouse was built on the Guschachopf near Bad Ragaz. The building was assembled with a helicopter.

  • Scaffoldin Tower Wolkenwerk, Zürich

Wood is not only the right choice of material for residential and commercial buildings, it also offers ideal properties for temporary buildings. With a height of 70 metres, the scaffolding towers are the tallest wooden structures in Switzerland.

The Buchholz playground in Zurich Witikon was completely rebuilt this year. For the planning, Timbatec engineers measured the existing site and its foundations with a 3D measuring device.

  • New Construction of Observation Tower Altberg, Dänikon

1st prize at the project competition Turm Altberg 2008! A timber tower with palisade-like columns on the ground plan diagonals, a staircase opening upwards and a roofed viewing platform at a good 30 m height. Already in 1895 there was a lookout tower about 10 - 12 m high on the barely forested hilltop of the Altberg. This tower disappeared before 1917. What happened to it is no longer traceable today.

In line with the principle of the 1985 Environmental Protection Act to limit noise primarily through measures at its source, the 2000 Federal Act on the Noise Abatement of Railways stipulates, among other things, "measures along the propagation route".

  • New Galilei Tower, Heureka, Zürich-Brunau

The round 12-story exhibition tower made of timber, diameter and height 50 m each, formed the opposite pole to the high-tech tents of the exhibition. A skeleton with circular masts and semicircular pliers was chosen as the main supporting structure. For the connection of the pliers, it was necessary to develop a new type of heavy-duty connecting material, which had to meet high demands with requirements such as load-bearing capacity, flexibility (round timber) and favorable procurement. Timber can certainly be used for more than just archaic buildings, yet here it was the welcome backdrop for a historical research exhibition.
