Timber is sustainable


Buildings made of timber are sustainable. On the one hand, wooden buildings store CO2 permanently, which has a favourable effect on the climate. In addition, timber favors energy-efficient construction methods such as Minergie or Leed

One cubic meter of timber relieves the atmosphere by about one ton of CO2, but concrete and steel are quite different: the production of these building materials emits enormous amounts of CO2, which contributes to the global greenhouse effect. Another advantage: wooden buildings require less energy for construction and operation. This enables builders who are oriented towards the goals of the 2000-watt society to reduce energy consumption to around one-third. Wooden buildings also benefit the environment in the event of demolition: the building material from nature can either be recycled or used to generate energy.
