Come in, come in: The new Simmental Arena was inaugurated last weekend with a big celebration for the people of the upper Simmental valley. The multifunctional timber construction is both a new home for the local fire department and a venue for markets, cattle shows and concerts.
The International MassTimber Conference in Portland/Oregon is one of the most important events of the timber industry worldwide. This year's Berne Timber Day takes up the cudgels for the use of local timber: "But now Swiss timber! More success with innovation and regional specialties" is the motto of the annual meeting of the cantonal timber industry. Timbatec founder Stefan Zöllig has put together the program for the event.
During these days three new interns have started their work at Timbatec: Patrick Javet, Iro-Nui Wichman and Joel Hächler. All three are students at the Bern University of Applied Sciences in Biel and will spend one year in one of our offices.
Timber buildings are increasingly becoming the focus of public attention. Last night, the news magazine "10 vor 10", which averages 420,000 people, reported on the increasing use of timber in large residential projects. In addition to one ETH professor, two Timbatec employees were interviewed.
