Twenty years, numerous projects, and many shared successes: Our photo gallery showcases milestones that have shaped our Zurich location and helped shape Timbatec’s development. A heartfelt thank you to our customers and business partners—we look forward to many more projects together.
«Zwänzg Jahr Züri»—two words and a city that stand for two decades of shared ideas and projects.
In our anniversary photo gallery, we take you on a journey through two decades of timber construction history. It showcases projects that have shaped Zurich as a location and accompanied Timbatec along the way. Some served as the starting point for new developments, while others set technical standards or demonstrated what is structurally possible with wood as a high-tech material.
Click through the tabs for each year, and you'll find more information on the slider with the project images that have shaped Timbatec's history.
These include early pioneering projects such as the addition of extra stories to the Burri apartment building in Uetikon am See, which ultimately led to the establishment of the Zurich office. This was followed by projects that had a decisive influence on timber construction: Switzerland’s first plus-energy apartment building in Bennau, one of the first five-story residential buildings in the city of Zurich constructed of wood, Europe’s highest-altitude restaurant at 3,800 meters above sea level on the Klein Matterhorn, and what was then Switzerland’s largest residential complex built of wood, «sue+til» in Winterthur. We also broke new ground with regionally sourced Swiss timber at the Buchs Forestry Center—the first multi-family residence with a basement built using timber construction—as well as with innovative structural systems such as the mega-trusses in Baar and the CLT Vierendeel beams in Wädenswil.
As diverse as the projects in this journey through time may be, they all have one thing in common: they could only come to fruition thanks to people who are passionate about pushing the boundaries of wood construction—because no project is the work of a single person; it is the result of collaboration among a multitude of stakeholders involved in the construction process. That is why we extend our heartfelt thanks to our clients, the many architectural and engineering firms, timber construction companies, and all our business partners for their great trust and inspiring collaboration.
«Twenty Years in Zurich» —countless shared stories. We are proud of what we’ve achieved and believe that the most exciting projects still lie ahead and that the limits of what’s possible are far from being exhausted.
Successful together on the path of wood. – We’re already eagerly anticipating the next chapter: In 2027, Timbatec Holzbauingenieure Schweiz AG will celebrate its 30th anniversary.
To be continued. Guaranteed.
