Mobilcity Competence Center Car, Wankdorf Bern

2013

It is unusual for ten associations in one industry to join forces to create a joint training center. This is exactly what the automotive associations did in Bern Wankdorf on Wölflistrasse. They built a new building as a training and further education center for the automotive industry in Switzerland. Timbatec was commissioned for the demanding planning of these halls.

The project
A six-story office building (solid construction) and two adjoining wooden workshop halls make Mobilcity an attractive workplace for 400 employees and apprentices. The size of the halls and the intended use required the planning of a sophisticated timber construction.

The construction method
The primary supporting structure consists of a truss construction. These are aligned transversely to the hall and mounted on wooden supports. The secondary structure, located between the glulam (glulam) trusses, forms a ribbed slab which - applied as a roof slab - is also decisive for the stiffening of the roof area.
