Densified building in the small town, Lenzburg

The project
The commercial building of E. Häusermann AG is located near the railroad station in Lenzburg. On top of the existing building, two new residential floors have been realized in timber construction. In addition, a generous roof terrace with a view of Lenzburg Castle was built at the top. The challenge The client wanted modern, large apartments of high living quality. The solid staircase core was extended by three floors and, together with the floor slabs in timber construction, takes over the stiffening of the building.

The construction method
The ceilings of the extension were realized as box girder elements, which have a very low weight. This meant that large spans could be bridged and supports in the middle of the rooms were not necessary. The boundary between old and new is also emphasized: The cube with the newly constructed floors protrudes slightly, so that the extension stands out strikingly from the existing building.
