Wohnüberbauung Hofwis, Elsau
A «new village center» was built in Elsau, featuring two apartment buildings, nine townhouses, a health center, and a library with a multipurpose room.
The project
In Elsau, the Elsau Foundation built a «new village center.»
It comprises 2 apartment buildings, 9 single-family townhouses, 1 health center, and a library with a multipurpose room.
With its pergola, steep roofs, and wooden facades, the complex blends seamlessly into the rural surroundings.
The construction method
The existing renovated farmhouse now houses the multipurpose room and the library.
The health center is a wood-frame building with exposed beam ceilings; the stairwell is made of concrete.
The apartment buildings are constructed entirely of wood and are accessed via a covered walkway. The prefabricated wood-frame structures feature solid wood ceilings. Similarly, the row houses are prefabricated wood-frame structures with exposed beam ceilings.
