The project
The replacement building on Breitestrasse in Wallisellen is a four-story apartment building with ten units, constructed entirely from timber elements. The timber structure stands on a concrete foundation with an underground car park. The rear-ventilated facade made of glazed fir wood combines vertical and horizontal battens and integrates a horizontal fire barrier. The stairwell is designed as an economical timber structure with encapsulated frame elements and stairs and platforms made of precast concrete.
The construction method
The supporting structure is based on prefabricated wooden elements, which enabled precise and short construction times. The staircase was designed as a wooden structure with encapsulated frame elements and supplemented with precast concrete parts. Wood construction, fire protection, and building physics were integrally coordinated and incorporated into the planning at an early stage. Timbatec was responsible for wood construction, fire protection, and building physics from a single source.
