New construction garden hall Zellweger, Thun

2002

The client was looking for a solution for the roofing of their seating area. They wanted a more unusual solution than purlins and rafters. The situation allowed 2 line supports on 2 masonry walls at right angles to each other and a point support on a pendulum support.

The project
The conditions proved to be ideal for the application of a Timbatec® Mikkado® support grating. Also because this was the third application of this new system and therefore no more 'teething problems' were to be expected.

The construction
The girder grid was prefabricated and folded in the factory in order not to exceed the transport width of 2.50 m. The girder grid was erected on site. On site, it was unfolded, the reinforcing beams were installed and assembled as a whole. As the structure was exceptionally light, it could be swung into place using a light truck-mounted crane with a 16 m jib.
