Wood is not only the right choice of material for residential and commercial buildings, it also offers ideal properties for scaffolding towers with large platforms. Timbatec was commissioned to plan the statics of the three 70-metre-high scaffolding towers for the Wolkenwerk development in Zurich. The towers are currently being erected.

For each of the three high-rise buildings of the Wolkenwerk superstructure, a scaffolding tower is required on one facade side. With the platform, it enables the loading and unloading of the facade lifts on each floor. The 70 metre high wooden scaffold tower is placed on a concrete ceiling and contains 22 platforms. They are designed in such a way that they are only attached to the buildings for bracing purposes. The loads are transferred in the construction.

For each tower, 27m3 glued laminated timber, 32m3 construction timber and 560m2 three-layer panels are used. A total of 200m3 wood is used for all three towers.
