Two projects involving Timbatec Holzbauingenieure have been nominated for the Swiss Arc Award: the Wiesental School in Baar and the Buchholzstrasse residential development in Zurich. Combining structural engineering, building physics, and sustainability: With the start of earthwork and excavation, the official kickoff for the Pichlmühle in Nussdorf am Attersee has taken place. Now that the construction plans have been finalized, work is beginning on this forward-looking hotel and apartment project located right on the shores of Lake Attersee.

Innovative wood-frame walls with openings (WMOE) enhance efficiency, sustainability, and architectural freedom. Thanks to research at ETH Zurich, BUAS, EMPA and Timbatec’s applied expertise, structural systems are becoming more stable, more economical, and structurally optimized—a forward-looking approach to modern timber construction.

The «Timber City» event series by Wüest Partner showcases how timber construction is shaping the transformation of the construction and real estate industries. Timbatec is supporting the two events on June 17 and November 11, 2026, as a sponsor and partner. At these events, experts will discuss current developments and practical solutions.

At the Wood Construction Congress in Brixen, Timbatec demonstrated what defines modern wood construction: not just spectacular projects, but above all well-thought-out, resource-efficient solutions. The focus was on construction, material use, and new technologies with an eye toward CO₂ reduction and circularity.

Precise construction planning is key: For the new upper secondary school in Ins, Bern, Timbatec developed detailed solutions for the structural framework, connections, and interfaces. This formed the basis for an efficient and seamless implementation of the timber construction project.

The project to expand the Paul Reinhart Elementary School in Weinfelden stands out for its clean, wood-based design, high flexibility, and respectful approach to the existing structure. At its core are an efficient structural concept, modular designs, and a construction method tailored to the materials used, ensuring long-term usability.

The «Esplanade» proposal by Ramser Schmid Architekten GmbH (architecture and general planning) emerged as the winning project from among the 25 submissions. Aschwanden & Partner, Zurich, together with Timbatec Holzbauingenieure, are responsible for the civil engineering aspects of the project.
